If you’ve made it this far, you’ve now seen our amazing new website completely dedicated to the employment culture you can expect by working for Cumming! In my very first blog post, I’m going to go over the reasons as to why we even created something so wonderful, thoughtful, outgoing, brilliant, and any other adjective I can think of that makes our efforts worth it.
First, why explain the reasons? Well, one of the key goals of this year long endeavor was to pull back the curtains and give active and passive candidates a chance to see Cumming from the perspective of those who work here. We like it here… it’s cozy. But we really want to show you why we like it here. If you agree with our assessment, then let’s talk! On the other hand, sometimes there simply isn’t a fit. Wouldn’t you like to know if there isn’t a fit before going down the long road of creating a resume, applying for a job, talking to recruiters and hiring managers, negotiating salary, etc, etc? We want to hire the best of the best, but only if you think that we can add value to your own personal and professional life as well.
Let’s be honest, we created this site as a portion of our Engagement & Employment Culture Branding Program in order to recruit you. A “behind the scenes” look at Talent Acquisition in today’s workplace would show you that there is a fundamental shift working in the candidates favor. 20 years ago, you found jobs in the newspaper. After that, big job boards came along and took over. Today, companies worldwide are realizing that posting jobs (i.e. “posting and praying”) is simply not as effective as it once was. A diversified recruiting campaign will, of course, include job boards, but it’s not the future of Talent Acquisition… and not really the present either.
What’s next you ask? You did ask, right?
Engagement! Engagement can mean so many things, but in the world of Talent Acquisition it means to proactively engage candidates – both active and passive. For us, it means to emerge from behind the computer and applicant tracking systems. For you, it means to allow your personality to shine instead of hiding behind a resume, cover letter, and professional speak. Sure, we want to see your experience, but once we get past that, we want to engage you, we want to learn more about you, and we want to brag about ourselves to you! Doesn’t that seem like a better way to find the next company you’re going to partner with? We think so. Trust me, we didn’t invent this idea. Go ahead and google “employment branding” or “candidate engagement”. You’ll find that it’s a widespread epidemic that truly benefits the job seeker… and I think that’s the way it should be.
So please stay tuned! We’ll be adding a lot of great information here. Our very own professionals will be blogging about their life at Cumming, I’ll be giving you nitty-gritty numbers, facts, and “insider” information about the recruiting process, and we may even incorporate a fun game or some Q&A sessions for you to participate in!
